My Architecture Mission

The mission…

As an architect, I will be an empathetic leader that designs architecture with the virtues of serving nature’s diverse beauty, supporting lifelong learning in all walks of life, and responding to the needs and desires of the public. I am on this mission because architecture is the perfect profession for me with its creative range and how I will be able to shelter and share what others and I care about. As I continue to develop, I aim to pay my education forward as a future professor and mentor.

…and its virtues.

Empathetic Leadership

I personally define empathy as listening to understand, feel, and support. I want to put this in to act by listening to understand, feel, and support my clients and teammates who have unique values that don’t align with my own. This is my most vital virtue because it turns my personal architecture mission into a mission for people other than myself.'

Serving Nature’s Diverse Beauty

To me, nature’s diverse beauty is all encompassing of superficial aesthetics, the landscape, the interconnectedness and ordering of ecosystems, sensory human experiences, deeply feeling emotions, and things that live with purpose. I will create spaces that serve life’s undefinable beauty because of my land conservation ethic that is rooted from growing up in Colorado and Montana.

Supporting Lifelong Learning in All Walks of Life

Continuous learning is a must. Learning is for any age, and it is never too late or too early to begin or even restart. I will inspire lifelong learners by creating an enhanced learning environment that gets people to ask curious questions about the subjects I hope to connect them to.

Responding to the Needs and Desires of the Public

Every project is a public project with how people can see them, how the materials are sourced, how they are built, maintained, interacted with, the list goes on. I want to focus on projects that most people can engage with and have minimal barriers to entry. This ties into my most important virtue of empathetic leadership because of how I will need to understand people and come up with solutions that respond to the public’s best interests. As I said in “Who TJ Dubler Is”, I find meaning and purpose in my life when I see that people around me are happy, so I diligently do everything I can to create an environment that supports the happiness of others.

My Passion Projects

I will enthusiastically design and build concert halls, museums, nature visitor centers, public schools, public libraries, sacred spaces, and memorials. I am not limiting myself to these projects but am particularly passionate towards these spaces because each of them is directly related to a part of my explorative personality that makes me happy. Working on these projects is my dream job that I’m working towards! It’s important to know that these projects are not my end goal; I am more excited for my process of personal development as my design skills and leadership continue to mature, and for other opportunities that will arise along the way.
